In this talk, I will explain why existing infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions are not a good fit for the current and future, and how this needs to be fixed.
Indeed, all of the IaC was mainly built with a single, top-notch user in mind, and has only applied patches over time in an attempt to make it work for new methodologies and a broader engineering community. While the Platform Engineering discipline is very promising and is trying to take off, it is massively held back by tools that weren’t meant to be used with it. It’s time to change that.
I will use the new open-source IaC platform formae as an example of a change we urgently need to make in infrastructure management to be prepared for the current and future.
